Our Productions

Each year, Stage 2 proudly presents multiple productions that highlight the talent, dedication, and creativity of our students. These performances are student-driven and collaborative, family-friendly and accessible, and affordable for the community, all while being created with pride by young artists. Every production serves as an opportunity for students to challenge themselves, grow creatively, and gain valuable experience on and off the stage.

Winter Showcase

Stage 2 hosts its annual Student Showcase, a celebration of creativity, leadership, and collaboration.

Students are divided into small groups and assigned a performance piece that is choreographed and led by fellow students. Over approximately two months of rehearsal, students learn how to lead, collaborate, and bring their ideas to life.

The Student Showcase highlights:

  • Student initiative and leadership

  • Teamwork and collaboration

  • Artistic growth in a supportive environment

Summer Production

Stage 2 presents its major summer production, offering students a fully immersive theatrical experience.

During this process, students take part in:

  • Building and designing sets

  • Creating costumes and props

  • Planning publicity and marketing efforts

  • Selling tickets and advertisements

  • Performing on stage

This hands-on involvement gives students real-world experience and a deep sense of ownership in the final production.

Cover art for 'A Midsummer Night's Dream,' depicting ghostly figures of a man and woman holding hands against a moonlit, starry night sky, with a glowing moon and a white dog in the foreground, all surrounded by a lush, illuminated forest.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream is one of William Shakespeare’s most enduring and beloved comedies, celebrated for its whimsical tone, lyrical language, and imaginative storytelling. The play begins in Athens, where Duke Theseus prepares for his wedding while four young lovers, Hermia, Lysander, Helena, and Demetrius, struggle with unrequited affection, rigid laws, and emotional turmoil. Seeking freedom, the lovers flee into the nearby forest, unaware that it is inhabited by fairies whose magic has the power to alter human hearts.

In the forest, King Oberon and Queen Titania are locked in their own conflict, prompting Oberon to enlist the mischievous fairy Puck to use a magical flower whose juice causes anyone who sleeps to fall in love with the first creature they see upon waking. When Puck makes a series of mistakes, the potion is applied to the wrong people, resulting in sudden, exaggerated shifts in affection that drive the lovers into confusion and despair. Friendships fracture, jealousy intensifies, and chaos reigns as love becomes unpredictable and irrational.

Meanwhile, a group of well-meaning but comically unskilled craftsmen rehearse a play they hope to perform for the Duke’s wedding. Their earnest efforts and accidental entanglement with fairy magic, particularly when one actor is transformed into a donkey, add layers of humor and warmth to the story. As night fades into morning, the magical interference is undone, misunderstandings are resolved, and harmony is restored. By the end of the play, multiple weddings take place, dreams are questioned, and the boundary between reality and imagination blurs. A Midsummer Night’s Dream ultimately celebrates the wonder of creativity, the madness of love, and the transformative power of forgiveness and joy.
